September 28

I’m not even going to try to put together my points for yesterday. I didn’t exercise and then I went to a friend’s for a party after my daughter’s swim meet and stuffed my face with macaroni salad, Capri salad, deviled eggs, some Italian pasta thing, a mushroom “burger” on a white bun, a cookie, a tiny cupcake that I think was just sugar in disguise and too many chocolate and peanut butter brownies.

So, I guess my weeklies and probably some of my APs are gone for good, but I’m not going to worry about it. I’m just going to take it easy on the food the rest of the week and hope I at least maintain. I don’t expect to lose anything.

The rest of my day was OK, though. It looked like this:

Breakfast: Orange juice, peanut butter sandwich (5)
Lunch: Almonds, chocolate, peanut butter, asparagus in hollandaise (11)
Snack: Banana (2)

No exercise.

Sometimes, I’m Surprised and it’s a Good Thing

This week has been a challenge. I went to the gym before my run on Sunday and must have overdone one of the machines because I woke up Monday with a very sore lower back. I did some yoga thinking it would help, but it didn’t make it better. I could barely walk, so any form of exercise was pretty much out of the question until I felt better.

I skipped Tuesday’s yoga class because I wanted to rest my back and have since pretty much been moving it as little as possible. Then yesterday, my car door slammed on my left hand and my ring finger is swollen, slightly bruised and it hurts. That doesn’t really affect whether I can run, but it is tough to make a fist, which is a natural stance when running, so we’ll see how that goes.

Also yesterday, at work we had our monthly birthday celebration, which you can see by my menu consisted of nachos and cookies. I thought for sure I totally blew my points, especially after I proceeded to eat a pretty full dinner last night, as well. (And today is another work party with food!).

I was seriously considering just calling it a week and starting over again on Sunday. I couldn’t even bring myself to track my food from yesterday until long after I ate it all. I didn’t want to see those numbers.

But I did, finally, put it into My Fitness Pal and tracked the points. I’m glad I did, and I hope this can serve as a lesson to anyone else in the same position: it was a total of around 1,400 calories and 26 points! That’s all. That’s it. I still have weeklies left and the few APs I already earned. I could still see a loss this week.

My back is still sore, but much better. I can walk again. I’m going to attempt a run tonight (if the rain holds off, otherwise, it will be my elliptical instead) and another tomorrow. Saturday is my day off, so no matter what, there will be no workout. I might hit the gym for a half hour in the morning, but probably not.

And there you have it. Sometimes we think we did far more damage than we actually did and you only know if you have it in front of you in black and white.
