The Girl Who Could (Formerly) Eat Anything

Getting fit and taking names

RECOMMITTED: August 21-22

Friday night, I drove to Orlando to pick up my daughter from the airport and drove back all in one day/night. Needless to say, my food intake was erratic and I didn’t get in a workout. It wasn’t pretty:

Breakfast: Kashi GoLean with strawberry goat milk yogurt, chai latte (Tazo chai, 8 oz 8th Continent Light Vanilla Soy Milk, honey) — 410 calories

Lunch: If you can call it that, I had some Green & Black’s 85% cocoa dark chocolate and some Blue Diamond brown sugar and cinnamon almonds — 290 calories

So far, not so bad! But then we stopped to eat on the way home at Ruby Tuesday’s.

Dinner: Cheesy garlic rolls (I had three, and they were small), creamy broccoli and cheese soup, avocado quesadillas — No idea how many calories, but I think I remember the quesadillas alone are something like 20 points on Weight Watchers, which is the number of daily points I get at my weight.

Hey! I was hungry. And my week officially starts on Saturdays. That’s the day I weigh myself. That’s the day I have a clean slate. Besides, the waiter had an unusual speech impediment, was overly polite and called both my daughter and me, “M’lady.” So it was worth it.

That brings my to Saturday, my clean slate day. No exercise. I was exhausted from the day before and a little emotionally drained from some other stuff that was going on, so I really have no excuse except that I really just didn’t wanna. Plus, Chris and I left around 3:30 for Jacksonville. We were supposed to go to a football game. Lightning had other plans for us. I did good with my eating, although I probably didn’t eat enough, actually. I just wasn’t that hungry.

Breakfast: None

Lunch: Green & Black’s dark chocolate (6 squares), medium banana with Peanut Butter & Co.’s Dark Chocolate Dreams peanut butter — 305 calories

Dinner: Firehouse Subs whole veggie sub, no mushrooms, on wheat bread — 581 calories

Total: 886 calories

Exercise: Walked 63 minutes for 507 calories, swam laps for 71 minutes and 512 calories (1019 total calories burned)

Breakfast: None

Lunch: Goat cheese pita pizza (Joseph’s flax, oat bran and whole wheat pita; garlic; 2 teaspoons flax oil; 1/4 cup goat cheese; three cherry tomatoes, sliced; broil) — 265 calories

Snack: 1 oz brown sugar and cinnamon almonds, 6 squares dark chocolate — 290 calories

Dinner: Smoothie (1 medium banana, 1 1/2 cups mixed berries [strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries], 1 tablespoon Dark Chocolate Dreams peanut butter, ice, light whipped cream) — 395 calories

Total: 950 calories

I planned on vegetarian chili, but I honestly was just not hungry. I guess I need to take advantage of that while it lasts, because usually I’m so hungry I can’t eat enough to satisfy it!

    • Yes, she would! Except what would she do if I didn’t know what I wanted to eat for dinner?

  3. dear Girl…,
i haven’t read all your posts, as you see i’m just at the very beginning of your blog, but i would like to say something. you’re getting way to little calories. if you keep getting that much calories (~1000) daily, your body would soon go to “starving” regime: your metabolism would become slow. what does it mean? it would start storing as much as possible food, instead of “burning” it. what is healthy and really works is: to consume not less than 1200-1500 kcal daily (depends on your body structure) and eat frequently (like 5-6 times a day; at the same time = regime) but not too much 😉 eating frequently little portions would make your metabolism faster and your body would turn your food to energy (not to fats). it is not the knowledge from books only, using this method i went from 75 (165 pounds) kg to 66 kg (145,2 pounds)(for today) and keep going 😉
    wish you luck!
